Cookies & privacy

Plain-English explanation of the cookies and analytics BA Hub uses, what we collect, why, and how you stay in control.

BA Hub is a free platform. To keep improving it we use a small amount of privacy-friendly analytics — but only if you say yes. We never show ads, and we never sell your data.

The short version

What we collect (and why)

Because BA Hub is free, this analytics is how we learn what’s genuinely useful, what to fix, and what to build next. When you accept, we record anonymous events such as:

What is Billie?

Billie is the built-in help feature on every BA Hub page — she answers business-analysis questions to guide you as you work. She is not an AI assistant or chatbot, and she never collects personal data. We simply log which questions she’s asked (with any emails and phone numbers stripped out first) so we can spot gaps and improve her answers.

WhatWhy we look at it
Pages and tools opened, time on page, scroll depthTo see what people actually use and where they drop off
Questions asked to Billie (our built-in BA help, not an AI assistant) — and whether she could answerTo learn what people need help with and fix gaps in her answers
JavaScript errors & “storage full” eventsTo find and fix things that are broken
Rage-clicks and blocked form submitsTo find where people get stuck or frustrated
An anonymous browser id, persona, plan, discipline, device/viewportTo group activity without identifying you personally

What we never collect

Your name and email are never sent to analytics — the usage data above stays anonymous. (We do collect your email for your account and your name for resource downloads, as described below, but that is kept separate.) The text of your Billie questions is scrubbed of any email addresses and phone numbers before it’s recorded. We don’t track you across other websites, and there are no advertising or social-media tracking cookies.

Your account & resource downloads

A couple of things on BA Hub need real details. These are kept completely separate from the anonymous analytics above and are used only for the purpose you gave them for:

WhatWhenWhy we use it
Your email addressWhen you create an accountTo set up and secure your account, sign you in, and save your progress
Your nameWhen you download a resourceTo personalise the resource and provide it to you

We don’t add you to marketing emails without asking you first, we don’t sell or share these details, and they are never passed to the anonymous analytics. They’re stored securely in our account system, and you can ask us to delete them at any time.

Cookies & storage we use

NameTypePurpose
bahub-consentEssentialRemembers your cookie choice (kept 12 months)
bahub_auth / app stateEssentialKeeps you signed in and saves your work in your browser
bahub_visitor_idAnalyticsAn anonymous id so we can count unique visits — only set if you accept
bahub_evt_queueAnalyticsTemporarily holds events in your browser before sending — only if you accept

Most of these are stored in your browser’s local storage rather than traditional cookies, but we treat them the same way for your privacy.

Our lawful basis

Essential cookies are used under our legitimate interest in providing a working website. Analytics cookies are used only with your consent, as required by the UK’s Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and the UK GDPR. Rejecting analytics will never stop the platform working.

Where you give us your email (to create an account) or your name (to download a resource), we process it because it is necessary to provide the service you asked for. If we ever want to send you marketing, we’ll ask for your separate consent first.

How long we keep it

Anonymous analytics events are kept for up to 180 days and then automatically deleted. Your saved work stays in your own browser (and your account, if you have one) until you remove it.

Your account email and any name you give for a download are kept while your account is active, and deleted when you close your account or ask us to remove them.

Your choices & rights

You can accept or reject analytics at any time using the button below. Under UK GDPR you also have the right to ask what data we hold and to request its deletion. For anything privacy-related, use our support page.
