About

Built by someone who’s been there.

Made redundant. Twice. Built anyway. The courses you see here are the training I wish I’d had when I was figuring it out alone.

The founder

I’m Joanne Jones.

I started out as a BA at a small company — 37 people, close-knit, you could ask anyone anything. They were bought out just before I went on maternity leave — and while I was off, they made me redundant. That was the first time, and it knocked me sideways.

I found a new role at a company of a thousand, and in my first weeks there I was handed a template and asked to write a business case. I’d never written one. Nobody explained it. There was no support, no AI, no colleague to ask — just me, remote, back from maternity leave, in the middle of Covid, trying to look like I knew what I was doing somewhere nobody knew me yet.

My diploma made people assume I was more experienced than I was, and I was quietly set up to fail. I proved myself over the months that followed — no roadmap, just effort. I had another baby, and was promoted to Senior BA, managing and coaching junior analysts.

Then the work dried up. While I was away on holiday, my whole BA team was made redundant — and then so was I — made redundant from a BA role for the second time. That’s what started BA Hub.

I built the training I needed but never had: not theory from someone who left the job years ago, but the real method — doing the actual work, on real projects, with feedback — so nobody has to bluff their way through their first business case the way I did.

Not a certificate you file away — real work you can show and talk through. So both courses are hands-on, in person, built on real simulated projects with real stakeholders.

The book

I wrote the book I wish I’d had.

The Business Analyst Blueprint, by J E Jones. A method book, not a textbook: how to think, talk and work like a BA from day one. It’s built around the Discover–Connect–Map–Define–Deliver framework, with the stakeholder politics nobody warns you about and how AI is reshaping — not replacing — the role.

Every course place includes a free copy.

Where this is heading

This is just the start.

Right now this site is about the courses. Next, it becomes the full BA Hub — the platform where business analysts do their actual work, with Billie, the built-in BA helper who knows BA methodology and the context of your project, so you’re never figuring it out from scratch alone. Every course place gets you in early.
